Description
A beautiful and tactile Victorian pocket compass, set into a solid agate case, dating to the late 19th century (c. 1870s–1890s).

The compass is housed in a square-cut agate body with natural banding and colour variation, showing the depth and translucency typical of genuine agate. The central compass dial is protected under glass, with a simple brass mount.

These small agate compasses were often carried as gentleman’s accessories, desk objects, or travelling curiosities, and are now highly collectible.

Condition is good - slight slice missing from the banded agate spine.
