A beautifully detailed vintage Swiss mechanical watch by Tavannes, set within an ornate silver-tone leaf motif brooch, dating to the mid-20th century (circa 1950s).
The watch face is signed Tavannes, marked 17 Jewels, KIF shock protection, and Swiss Made, indicating a quality Swiss mechanical movement.
The decorative leaf surround is finely textured and sculptural, designed as a brooch with safety chain, and could also be worn as a pendant or displayed as a collector’s piece.
Originally made as an elegant novelty or jewellery watch, these hybrid designs were popular in the post-war period and are now increasingly collectible.
